Animated Illustrations by Jonathan Caustrita for the short film "HELL" staring legendary actor John Malkovich and directed by the award winning commercial photographer and director Sandro Miller.
“Hell” is a short film that has Malkovich reciting the Greek philosopher Plato’s, “Allegory of the Cave.” Written in (514a-520a) the Allegory is about the concept of perception...what it is we think we see while using various metaphors. This film combines a backdrop of man's violent history up to "present day", while a soldier [often perceived as non-thinking killing machines "just following orders"], attempts to go beyond his perception of the world. He thinks about his surroundings and realizes that his understanding of reality, does not at all match his perception. What we believe has no bearing on our own individual lives, affects us all. An important message throughout the ages, and even more important today.
